No surprises. No pressure. No hidden costs. Here's exactly what happens from your first call to the night we walk your home together with the lights on.
It starts with a visit. We walk your home together — usually around dusk so we can see the existing light conditions — and we talk through what you're hoping for.
This isn't a sales call where we're trying to upsell you on fixtures you don't need. It's a genuine design conversation. We ask questions: What do you want to feel when you pull into your driveway at night? Are there areas that feel unsafe? Do you entertain outside? What's your rough budget?
We also look at what's there — existing wiring, lighting design features, structural elements, sight lines from the street and from inside the house. All of that goes into the design.
The consultation is completely free and comes with zero obligation. Most homeowners find it valuable even if they don't end up proceeding — it gives you a clear picture of what's possible and what it would cost.
Most home consultations take between 30 and 60 minutes. We'll let you know when we schedule it so you can plan your afternoon.
After the site visit, we put together a lighting design for your home. This includes a zone-by-zone breakdown of the system we're recommending, fixture selections (with reasons for each choice), and phasing options if you'd like to build the system out over time rather than all at once.
We think about lighting design the same way a good architect thinks about a floor plan: everything should serve a purpose, nothing should be there just because it looks impressive in a catalogue, and the whole should feel coherent and intentional rather than assembled piece by piece.
We typically present two or three options at different scope and price points — a focused system that hits the priorities we identified in the consultation, a more comprehensive system, and sometimes a phased plan that gets you started with the most impactful elements now and leaves room to expand later.
No vague estimates. No "it depends" line items. You receive a detailed, itemized quote that shows exactly what you're getting, exactly what it costs, and exactly what's included — including installation, wire runs, transformer sizing, and control system setup.
If something comes up during installation that changes the scope (buried conduit we didn't know about, a tree root that affects a wire run, etc.), we contact you before we proceed. There are no surprises on the invoice.
We ask for a deposit to schedule installation and the balance on completion — after you've walked the home with the lights on and are satisfied with the result.
We've heard too many stories from homeowners who got a vague quote, approved it, and then received an invoice 40% higher. That doesn't happen here. If we can't give you a firm number, we'll tell you why and what we'd need to do to nail it down before you commit.
On installation day, our crew arrives with everything they need. We protect your landscaping, run wires cleanly and carefully, place fixtures with precision, and clean up completely when we're done — you shouldn't be able to tell we were there except for the lights.
We do all our installations with an eye on the long term. Wires are buried at proper depth and protected. Fixtures are set for optimal angle and beam spread, not just "close enough." Transformer placement is thoughtful — accessible for maintenance, hidden from primary sight lines.
We finish every installation at night. We don't pack up at 5 PM and leave you to discover whether it looks right. We stay until after dark, walk the home with you, adjust any fixtures that benefit from fine-tuning, and make sure the system is performing exactly as designed before we consider the job done.
Our relationship with you doesn't end when the install crew drives away. We offer ongoing maintenance plans for customers who want peace of mind, and we back all our work with clear warranty terms on both fixtures and installation.
What's included as standard:
Optional maintenance plans cover annual fixture cleaning, adjustment, and system health checks — useful for larger systems or properties that go through significant seasonal lighting design changes.
